A 30-tonne male whale was found dead on Ipanema beach, in Rio de Janeiro, Wednesday morning.
The animal had already lost its skin and was decomposing, since, according to biologists, the animal might have been dead for a week already. The bones of the jaw were found separated, and one of those present said that there was a very "strong bad odour" at the beach.
A team of biologists took a sample from the whale's body for further investigation.
