Hawaii resident Cindy Poindexter captured of a shark swimming in shallow waters in Maui, Hawaii on April 25.Poindexter was at Suger Beach with her husband when she spotted the shark swimming in the water. She approached it believing it was a sea turtle when she realized it was actually a shark, “It was so close to the shore we thought it was going to beach itself” she said.Poindexter told Storyful she sent the to the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources who informed her the animal was a tiger shark, likely looking for a food source based on its tight circling and erratic behavior.
